Dear Nikon Corporation,
I will be speaking on behalf of: 100 plus owners of the Coolpix 5700.
Although the vast majority of us love and use this camera, all of us consistently agree on one thing: The camera has an inability to focus correctly in a usable manor. (Meaning: it will not lock onto the subject while focusing).
The Coolpix 5700 will not function to any standard in normal room lighting.
We collectively have come to the conclusion that a low light, low contrast, situation, which is all most normal interior lighting provides, is not sufficient for the Coolpix 5700 to react to in an acceptable manor, which: renders it useless for indoor use.
We as a group are submitting this formal letter in a request for the following preferred improvement/s:
#1 foremost, a firmware up-grade: to fix the current inability to focus in an interior lighting situation.
#2 Flash shoe active always, in any setting (Especially when flash is disabled from button on side of camera) there's never a need to disable the hot shoe on top of the camera.
We have other issues as well, which include: (And in no special order)
"TTL control for advanced speedlighs like SB50DX/SB80DX.
"The ability to use the AF IR assist light on Nikon flashes
"Allow a simpler function access to MF with numerical read out, not progress bar.
"Better storage of settings in user modes 1, 2 and 3. Which are preserved / changeable, after taking a shot or after switching the camera off.

This is an on-going list of names and comments of the said petitioners.
