three functions of IB in thailand:
1) equity & debt issuance
2) mergers & acquisition
and 3) other corporate finance
for a junior level investment banker (often called analysts or associates), the responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting financial analysis, building financial models, prepare presentations and pitches, conduct due diligence, and documentation.
for a senior level investment banker, the roles shift from grunt work and working to data to working with clients, facilitating a deal, working with regulators, and finding opportunities.
the industry is seen as a glamorous one, since your clients are usually senior management levels, CFO and up. for your grads, it is the fast track career, since you learn so much and get to meet and compete with the smartest people, and not to mention the pay.
the pay is higher than average. starting salary can be Bt 30,000 and above, with bonus at good houses doubling the base salary (i.e. 12+ months).
the work is intense. it is no 9-5 job. you usually work late. working to midnight and beyond is not uncommon for some houses.
overall, it is a high pay but also high commitment industry.
