This is one heck of a football week. Should be so much fun. I thought we were going to make a pick in the Chiefs-Broncos game. :(
CIN @ BAL (-6)
Bengals : offense 7th (12th rush, 10 pass), defense 22nd (18th rush, 24th pass)
Ravens : offense 22nd (2nd rush, 32nd pass), defense 4th (10th rush, 6th pass)
The Bengals are riding high, thanks to Marvin Lewis, who also should be COTY candidate. This is pretty much the same team as Dick LeBeau's one (with the minus of Spikes and plus Hardy, seamlessly). Coaching staff is really a major improvement. Players just didn't buy to LeBeau, as simple as that. Agree with K. Mollusk, Kitna deserves a spot in AFC pro bowl team along side Manning and McNair (but I hardly see it happens due to the Patriots and Tom Brady's performance), who are the lock and Chad Johnson is going to start in Hawaii, too. Keyshawn should look at his cousin and let his play talk, instead of asking for the damn ball and has finally seen the damn door, himself. Chad is clearly better than his big-mouth cousin. The Ravens have a new life and passing game in new-in-box duo Anthony Wright and Marcus Robinson, who were teammates while playing under Lou Holtz at South Carolina, would get each other connected to test Bengals secondary, which is weak in passing defense, plus Jamal Lewis in the backfield. Also, Ray Lewis, Reed and McCallister on the defensive side, they are hard to lose this game. No matter how much I want to see the the Bengals in the playoff, have got to rely on Baltimore's defense.
IND @ TEN (11)
Colts : offense 2nd (28th rush, 1st pass), defense 9th (19thrush, 7th pass)
Titans : offense 10th (27th rush, 5th pass), defense 14th (1st rush, 30th pass)
The Colts have been criticizedabout playcalling in the final series of the last week game. They lost by only one yard, however, they should NOT have let themselves in that position. With "Dumb Decision", admitted by Tony Dungy during the end od the first half, by kicking the ball deep just to see it got returnd for a TD by the rookie Bethel Johnson. Losing rookie TE Dallas Clark should limit some passing attacks and they need Troy Walters to step up as #3 WR. Marcus Pollard would have to take a major role as lone reliable TE, he also would have to help LT Tarik Glenn block Javon "The Freak" Kearse, who will be back to harrass Manning a lot. Secondary has some problems in coverage, especially in the rookie SS Mike Doss. His lack of covering ability cause the team some big plays downfeild. TEN comes back from a devastating loss to the Jets and McNair is still not 100%, which would limit his mobility. McNair would throw deep more often to take advantage from the Colts' weak secondary. Eddie George and his running game are too inconsistent to rely on, which I think the reason they'll lose (though, I still think they will go to the AFC championship game).
DAL @ PHI (-9)
Cowboys : offense 15th (13th rush, 14th pass), defense 1st (3rd rush, 1st pass)
Eagles : offense 24th (10th rush, 29th pass), defense 21st (22nd rush, 21st pass)
The Cowboys have been facing real challenges. Tuna needs to make adjustment to his running game. Troy Hambrick is nowhere to be found when needed. Very fortunate that htey ahve 3 reliable WRs; Galloway, Glenn and Bryant to bail out QCar. Defense showed sign of wearing down a little bit when facing strong RB and has to stay on the feild for a long time. Losing Derek Doss might not be a problem due to the Eagles receivers cannot scare anyone's grandma. That's why they showed "no respect" to their passing game in the last meeting. Donovan McNabb has eventually bounced back. Great players overcome struggling. The Eagles are also lucky to have 3 good RBs; Westbrook, Staley and Buck'. These guys stepped up at the right time when Reid was deep in hell. Good adjustment too. Matchup of the week would be the Cowboys DL and Eagles OL, if you can recall the last series of the last meeting. The difference is, the Eagles' line will win this time.
MIA @ NE (-16)
Dolphins : offense 26th (16th rush, 26th pass), defense 13th (4th rush, 26th pass) Patriots : offense 16th (24th rush, 8th pass), defense 8th (5th rush, 15th pass)
The Dolphins have two upsides over NE; Ricky and 10-day rest, that's it. Jay Feidler earns back his spot in the lineup and his leadership is not a question. Zach Thomas should also be back, though still limping. They have to prove that they can win THIS December, or Dave Wanstedt is gone. NE is the hottest team in the AFC, sorry for those Chiefs fans, in my opinion. The defensive goal-lone stand wit hthe Colts was incredible. Kudos to Bill Belichick and his staff. Brady is super when playing under pressure and executes well. This kid is so tough and confident. Can you imagine if they have a stud RB?? This team would be explosive. And they will get it in this upcoming draft (which the team has 8 picks in the first 3 rounds, 2 in the 1st, 4 in the 2nd and 2 in the third, isn't that scary??). They should be #1 SB contender next year, I strongly beleive. Pats will extend their streak to 9 games, easily.
And watch out, the KC's 2nd loss of the season is due this weekend. Take this to the bank. :)
